Homework Assignment September 17th

Please complete the following assignments by Thursday September 24th

Most of your homework will be completed using Paul Revere's Ride by Longfellow. You will find this in your book. If you do not yet have a book, you will find it here:

1. Listen to and read along with the following dramatic reading of Paul Revere's Ride. It is read by H.W Longfellow.     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-6dhICCzcw         .
2. Complete Pages 10 and 11 in your book. It is important to note the Line in which the example occurs as well as the example itself. if you do not have the book yet, please find a link to Pgs 10 /11 at the following link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8p443HEQH0UbzYwU3dBeFpxMGc/view?usp=sharing      
3. Be sure to complete the section on the bottom of page 11 entitled "Who is the Author". Try to gather as much info about Longfellow as possible so that you can discover the CONTEXT  in which the poem was written.
4. During class you were each assigned a Literary Device (Simile, Metaphor , Assonance etc.).  You are to define this Literary Device in your own terms. 
5. Find an example of your assigned Literary device within another piece of literature. You may use a poem, short story, children's book.
6. Write your own example of this Literary device. (Use you imagination)
7. Tell what affect this device has. How does it affect the style and mood of a piece? What is so special about it?
